St. Louis Family
Wins Home Comfort Makeover
With cool weather still lingering
and summer heat just around the corner, the
Landry family needed a new heating and air
conditioning system ? and quick. The current
system did not maintain a consistent, comfortable
temperature and was costing as much as $500
a month to heat and cool the modest, two-story
home.
Ms. Landry began doing research
on new central heating and cooling systems
when she came across an article about American
Standard’s New Standard In Home Comfort
Contest. As part of the contest, Ms. Landry
submitted a short essay about her family’s
home comfort needs. She even enlisted the
help of her eight-year-old daughter who included
a sketch drawing of their home.
“I didn’t think
we would ever win, so I just held onto the
information for a while,” said Ms. Landry.
“My daughter and co-workers encouraged
me to enter, so I did.”
The Landrys were selected as
the winners of the American Standard contest
and have received a much needed home comfort
makeover – including a new American
Standard central heating and air conditioning
system, along with bath and kitchen products
– valued at $15,000.
The family received a new heating
and cooling system that will help correct
their indoor home comfort and air quality
issues, while reducing their high energy costs.
A 90 percent variable speed furnace, 15 SEER
air conditioning unit and an American Standard
touch screen thermostat were installed. In
addition, a new American Standard AccuClean™
whole house air filtration system was used
in the Landry’s home, improving the
home’s indoor air quality and eliminating
up to 99.98% of the allergens from the filtered
air.
They are also receiving other
comfort upgrades to transform their home into
a luxurious retreat. These upgrades include
an American Standard ClearTap™ water-filtering
faucet, a VertiSpa® shower system that
converts an ordinary shower into a hydro-massage,
and a Champion® toilet for years of clog-free
flushing.
“We are delighted to help
raise the standard of comfort in the Landry
home,” says Joyce Warrington, national
brand director, American Standard Heating
and Air Conditioning. “With a new comfort
system, the family will be able to not only
regulate the indoor air temperature, but also
cut down on their heating and air conditioning
bills. No matter what the weather is like
outdoors, the Landrys will now have a very
pleasant experience inside their home.”
From Uncomfortable to Comfortable
The Landrys have been renovating
their home for the past few years, replacing
major items such as the roof and windows,
but the more than 20-year-old heating and
cooling equipment was never replaced.
“We’ve always had
problems regulating the temperature in our
home,” Ms. Landry said. “We could
never get the temperature just right. And
the cost to heat and cool our home was significantly
more than other homes in our neighborhood.
We needed a system that provided us comfort
and energy efficiency all in one.”
Fahy’s Heating and Air,
an American Standard dealer, installed the
new system, and Crescent Parts & Equipment,
an American Standard distributor, coordinated
the project. Both companies service homes
in the St. Louis area. Color of Springs, a
St. Louis based landscape and garden center,
added to the prize package by providing landscaping
in the area around the outdoor air conditioning
unit.
Now, with the help of American
Standard, the Landrys will be able to enjoy
their time and heating and cooling savings
together more comfortably.
“We are so grateful to
American Standard. This is the best thing
that could have happened to my family and
we’re just so excited,” Ms. Landry
concluded.
